Sacred Rose Festival Shares Offical Statement from SeatGeek Following Credit Card Processing Errors

On Monday, many attendees of Sacred Rose Festival noticed billing errors as high as nearly $5,000 for overcharged drinks and food. Today, the festival made an official statement in regard to the ongoing matter.

According to Bridgeview village spokesman Ray Hanania, the cause for the overcharges was due to a technical glitch by a system that was managed by “SeatGeek, not the Sacred Rose Fest event hosts.” They believe the glitch came through tipping and that decimal points were removed, turning $3.00 into $300.

Sacred Rose Festival shared SeatGeek’s statement on their Instagram account, which states, “You may have accidentally been charged a large amount from F&B at the stadium when using a cred card. Our payment processing is secure but had a configuration error. There was no exposure and/or fraud; we are PCI compliant. We are reversing all of these charges and you should see the amount credited to your card in 3-5 business days.” They went on to write, “We are very sorry [for] the mix-up and offer sincerest apologies for any inconvenience. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to us [at] [email protected]”

According to a report by CBS News Chicago, there are an estimated 10,000 credit and debit transactions, of which 132 are questionable, and there is no clear idea of what caused the glitch.
